Show business has never seen a group quite like The Coasters. They occupy a special niche in the music field. Because of their style and approach, they are in a class of their own. No wonder The Coasters are labeled "The Clown Princes of Rock N' Roll." The Coasters first hit "Down In Mexico" was released in the spring of 1956 and sold approximately 500,000 copies. Beginning with that career launch, they smashed the charts with such hits as "Young Blood, " "Searchin," "Yakety Yak" and "Charlie Brown," "Poison Ivy," "Love Potion #9," and "Baby That's Rock N' Roll," earning several Gold Records. Though the members have changed over the years, the one thing that remains true is the Coasters and their songs will always be part of classic rock and roll history.
