Artist Detail:

Born in Robbinsville, NC in 1945, Ronnie Milsap rose to the top of the country music world in the 1970s. Raised with mountain music of the Carolina hills, but trained in classical piano, Milsap began his career in the '60s with a stint in J.J. Cale's band. From there, through his work with Elvis Presley on "Don't Cry Daddy" and "Kentucky Rain," Milsap began building a head of steam, and when he started cranking out his own hits-songs like "What a Difference You've Made in My life," "It Was Almost Like a Song," "Smoky Mountain Rain," and "I Wouldn't Have Missed it for the World"-through the ?70s and ?80s, Milsap became an "overnight" sensation. He ranks as one of the most influential artists of his generation, with 40 No.1 hits to go along with six Grammys and at least a dozen CMA awards.
